今日ご紹介するフレーズは
The light at the end of the tunnel
訳すと『光明が見える』『明るい兆しが見える』『希望が見える』『見通しが立つ』となり、
長い困難や難しい状態に終わりが近づいている状態になる事
（long period of difficulty is nearing an end.）を意味します。
The phrase is found in old newspapers and other publications in the 1880s as a metaphor for hope.
このフレーズは1880年代に古い新聞やその他の出版物に希望を比喩する表現をして使われていました。
The phrase a light at the end of the tunnel was popularized by President John Kennedy in the mid-1960s in reference to the conflict in Vietnam.
この『明るい兆しが見える』というフレーズは1960代にケネディ大統領がベトナム紛争に関して使ったことで、広く使われるようになりました。
